Impedance is kept around 7 Ohms through much of the range, rising to 9 Ohms below 500Hz, and having a single bass peak of 30 Ohms at 50Hz...with a rated efficiency of 89dB (and it seemed to play a little louder than the 90dB Merlin VSM when fed the same signal level)...it is an easy load for any amplifier of any type...

"Hi Roy. Just a follow-up. I played with placement based on your suggestions and even though room configuration can't be ideal right now the speakers sound much better -- more coherent -- than they did before! I'm hooked on GMA speakers.
"I had to drive across the state today (NH is a small state, eh?) to pick something up and I noticed an AV shop in Derry, NH (Fidelis) -- stopped in on the way home. Nice shop! He's selling Harbeth, Stirling, B&W, and Spendor. A few guys were hanging out, one was picking up Spendor floor-standers he'd just bought. These guys were fawning on these British speakers. Anyway, someone in sales started chatting me up, wondering what the weak link was in my system. I just smiled. Told him I had old GMAs that would outclass everything in the shop. He started to make an argument about that. I asked him if he'd ever heard GMAs. He admitted he hadn't. I pointed out that I've heard B7W and Harbeth, so I was in a better position to know what I was talking about. That was that.
"I must say, the C-1s (I'm listening to some clarinet music right now) are just...well... real. Even with my imperfect set-up and my cheap AV receiver for power the music I'm listening to right now sounds better than the $15K system they had going at Fidelis today. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!"
