Review

1994  | Bound for Sound  |  Martin G. DeWulf, publisher

"Clarity across the stage is beyond reproach."

"...I was very surprised at this speaker's ability to be at home with baroque as well as rock and roll...bass response is very dynamic, and the melding of the woofer to the midrange is seamless and singular in its presentation. Extension in the highs is everything that one can expect from a high quality soft dome tweeter in a dead enclosure. Clarity across the stage is beyond reproach.

"This is the speaker that exposed the original OCM amplifier to have a great front half of the stage, while lacking in low level resolution at the back.

"(It) easily laid out the relative location of each musician, including the background singers, on the (Eric) Clapton Unplugged album...I probably heard 30 speakers at the Consumer Electronics Show playing that album and maybe two reproduced the proportions of the stage as correctly as did the Diamante..."

"...sounded the way well-designed dynamic speakers should sound..."

"...The box resonances that I have come to expect from most conventional-driver speakers were largely absent with the Diamantes...

"...no 'hooty' or 'awww' sounds, and the midrange refreshingly lacked the colorations of typical polypropylene-cone speakers...

"I could play Neil Young's Ragged Glory with 100dB peaks without suffering from listening fatigue. (They) sounded the way well-designed dynamic speakers should sound..."
